This should be the next X Factor

So there's this thing happening in America at the moment called Clash Of The Choirs, which is like X Factor (in that a series of judges each mentor an act) but — and there's a clue in the name — WITH CHOIRS.

Here's a clip from the show which is going out tonight ('8pm ET on NBC') in which Kelly Rowland listens to a con­testent telling her that, as Hurricane Katrina was demol­ish­ing her home and everything around it, she put her iPod on and listened to a little bit of Destiny's Child. Said con­test­ant then shouts some of 'Survivor'.

Until there is a major met­eor­o­lo­gical cata­strophe in the UK we suspect reality pop con­test­ants here in the UK will have to stick with 'dead Dad'.

But 'come on, Simon Cowell', let's have this on UK TV screens in the run to Christmas next year.
