We have been enjoying the new Sharleen Spiteri album, 'Melody', recently.
It's a bit of a 'Sharleen In Memphis' concept album but, in contrast with some of the joyless 60s/soul bandwagon jumping we seem to be experiencing this year, 'Melody' hits hard with a sonic and emotional depth. There's also ring of authenticity to Sharleen's own motivation for making this retro record.
More importantly it also has some great pop bits on it.

Choice quotes from the biog:
"My life was going through some big personal changes"
"It was completely the right vibe"
"I've always wanted to make a Nancy Sinatra record"
"Put your heels on"
"I got him to paint the garage"
Most significantly, we like the idea of the album title being written in nice colours. Well done to whoever thought of that idea.
