Here is a v enjoyable remix of MPHO's 'Box 'N' Locks'.

The remix is by Sermstyle and we nicked it off Chantelle Fiddy's World Of Whatever. "I love MPHO's swagger," notes the fun-loving beat scribe. So do we, Chantelle. So do we.
It's interesting when you listen to a track like this — one whose radio edit has a big sample in it — when it's been given a remix makeover that removes the sample. Because sometimes the song falls apart, and sometimes it continues to stand tall. 'Box 'N' Locks' is an example of the latter. You know somewhere there's someone (ie your dad) still banging on about how the song would be nothing without the 'Echo Beach' sample, but you listen to this Sermstyle mix and you think, 'well, the whole topline business is just really incredible and attention-grabbing and so obviously brilliant in its own right even with a production treatment that has no intention of propelling the track into the Top 10, so it must be good, right?'.
Or maybe that's just us.
