Let's have a look.
Number One: Still the most popular blonde Welsh soul singer of the moment. Duffy remains at Number One. Well done Duffy. Maybe get some nice colour photos taken next time, eh? Crack a smile etc.
Number Two: A shocker in the Leona Lewis camp: despite everything she has done to promote it, her big new charity single is not Number One. Strangely, this time round we did not receive an EMBARGOED!!!! Sunday press release from Leona's PR people at 6.45pm informing us of this news.
Number Six: Slowly but surely, Alphabeat inch closer to the chart position they deserve. Which is probably Number Five, all things considered.
Number Nine: The amazing Utah Saints single 'Something Good 08' is doing quite well on downloads. Perhaps this will be Number One next week? We'll be wiser in a week's time, we'll tell you that for nothing.
Number 15: The new Sugababes single 'Denial' is officially more popular than the new Girls Aloud single, which is not called 'Denial'. Despite the fact that the Girls Aloud single is only properly in shops this week so it's not a proper chart battle we are surprised more fuss has not been made in the tabloid press over the two having singles out at the same time, but we are not running a tabloid newspaper, so what would we know. Perhaps one of the Sugababes should get her 'tits' out or 'slam' Lily Allen or 'hit out at' 'Crazy Amy' or press release some spurious research about 'boozy Britain' if they want to get in the papers. London Lite, at the very least, would show some interest.
Number 16: This is where Girls Aloud's 'Can't Speak French' finds itself. 'Voila'.
Number 25: Disaster! How will all the orphans get their Sport Relief money if everyone is downloading the wrong version of 'Footprints In The Sand'? Does Annie Lennox know about this?
Number 26: Well, all that fuss over Foals doesn't really seem worth it now, does it?
Number 43: Ditto Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong.
So there you go.
