Annie's 'people' have knocked together a great megamix which includes most of the tracks on her new album, 'Don't Stop'. It lasts for almost twelve minutes. Be warned: these may be the best twelve minutes of your life.
[audio:anniesampler.mp3]As you can hear, this album is about 98% totally brilliant.
More significantly for the future of rock, could this megamix kickstart some sort of reappraisal for one of the most important but maligned pop artforms in the history of being able to listen to things? Megamixes are due a BIG comeback in 2008. Quick — tell us one megamix that isn't totally amazing. Exactly. You can't think of one. Megamixes and medleys are all brilliant.
In the 70s, an act called Stars On 45 built a career on terrible (ie amazing) medleys of re-recorded recent pop hits.

In the 1980s, Mirage scored a series of hits with their 'Jack Mix' singles.

We suggested a sort of postmillennial 'Stars On 192kbps' type popstar concept to someone at a record label last year. We decided that it would be pitched somewhere between Booty Luv and Jive Bunny via Pan's People. There would be a sort of rotating cast of people in the band. The person from the record label was not impressed. It could work, though, don't you think? It might not be very 'cool' or very 'progressive' but, y'know, what's the alternative? Another Wombats album?
