Theme tune to Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden
“This Dutch entry seemed to go on a lot longer than its 3:25 playing time. It stirred up memories of being unemployed and understimulated, where you'd watch repeats of The Sullivans or something like that and then weep for your life just slipping by. It left me quite weak and even the sprinkle of generic DX‑7 bells and pianos couldn't lift my spirits.”
Theme tune to Sonadoras
“Some nice trance stabs, a slamming 909 snare, some tough Jam and Spoon mid 90s kick drum and a simple but catchy song. I believe this is what they are calling 'Deep House'. I reckon that within a month of this theme appearing it probably sounded dated, and if it's still in use now it would finally have come back round to being cool again. With a very long fallow period. I wonder if they ever tried to freshen it up and ended up with a debacle similar to when EastEnders removed the synth drums from the theme tune to huge public outrage? I've found my mood has been lightened after listening to this, so a strong play from the Mexicans here. Therefore this should obviously win, however in a shock decision (in no way reminiscent of certain recent FIFA allegations) I checked my last publishing statement and it seems a larger amount of royalties come from the Netherlands, so congratulations to them on their win here today."
