Let's have a look!
Image
1. The new Shayne Ward single
As is The Modern Way, this comes with a sealed sleeve and various watermarking technologies aimed at thwarting illegal downloading, which may have been slightly more useful had the song not leaked in CD quality on the web last week.
2. The new single by Kelly Clarkson
Includes Chris Cox remix, which is 'alright'.
3. Some flyers
These are for the Popjustice club night which starts next Friday in London.
4. Beverley Knight's 'Voice — The Best Of'
The latest of what seems like eighty copies of this album to have arrived at PJHQ over the last few days. To her credit at least she hasn't used the word 'hits' in this album's title but she really should have stopped at 'Made It Back' and gone to work in a bank. Then again this is the woman who accompanies a cover version with a video in which she is filmed PRETENDING TO WRITE LYRICS.
5. The Faders' 'Look At Me Now'
Yes! It's a new Faders single! It wants to sound like Kelly Clarkson! It's terrible. :(
6. Pink's new album.
We will tell you all about this in a seperate 'news item'.
7. A Lorraine album sampler
"I've got an idea! Let's promote a really fit band with a picture of two trees on a radiator!" "Amazing — I'll get Peter Saville on the phone!"
8. 'No Way Back' by the Foo Fighters
As well as 'boasting' the normal audio track, this CD single also contains the song in MP3 format, which is one of the best most encouraging things we've seen on a CD single in ages, although we're not quite sure why.
9. A Girls Aloud school exercise book
The subject is filled in as 'History'. DO! YOU! SEE!?!11!ELEVEN!!1 Obviously we refuse to use this until we have taken receipt of the accompanying Biology and Chemistry schoolbooks which must be lost somewhere in the post. Come on Polydor, get your act together.
10. The World's Best Mum compilation
If you give your mum a compilation CD featuring tracks like Kelly Clarkson's 'Because Of You' (brought to life with a badparentingtacular video) and Anastacia's 'Left Outside Alone' you are, frankly, asking for trouble.
11. Unsigned music!
As part of Popjustice's ongoing commitment to unsigned actszzzz, we are pleased to report on this package from a band called 'Supersun'. "We are a mainstream three-piece band fronted by two brothers," explains Stuart from the band. "We would appreciate any feedback or comments you would be able to give." The CD looks like it might break our hi-fi or something so we haven't listened to it, but we invite all Popjustice viewers to head over to the band's MySpace page and have a listen, then drop them a line to say what you think.
And that is that. What will our jolly postman throw in our direction next Friday? The excitement is just all too much.
