We have been getting slowly obsessed with Cascada's 'San Francisco'. Not because it's any good — it is, of course*, utter drivel — but because of the shamelessness of its Katyperryisms.
'San Francisco' will be released twelve months after Katy Perry's 'California Gurls', and let's not forget 'Evacuate The Dancefloor', Cascada's 'Just Dance' refit, was released in July 2009, six months after the Gaga single was Number One in the UK.
With the gap between Cascada releases and the songs they've ripped off doubling from six months to twelve months between those two single releases, we expect the gap to double again in future, meaning that Cascada's next single will be based on a song that was a Number One two years prior to the Cascada single's release. Presuming the Cascada song is released in October (giving 'San Fransisco' a three month run), we're looking at Number One songs from October 2009. And the Number One songs from October 2009 are:
* Taio Cruz — 'Break Your Heart'
* Chipmunk — 'Oopsy Daisy'
* Alexandra Burke — 'Bad Boys'
* Cheryl Cole — 'Fight for This Love'
We'd have to pick 'Bad Boys' from that list as it is, very obviously, the best song not just from that selection but in the entire history of people having ears.
Cascada's forthcoming album is called 'Original Me'.
* 'Of course' might be a bit much because Cascada have had some good moments in the past, but let us be completely clear that those good moments are very much in the past.
