Adam Lambert, like all of us, wants to be both "down-to-earth" and "fierce"

  • June 26, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Rumoured homosexual Adam Lambert has been chatting about his role as an LGBT 'icon'.

"There's not just one type of gay person," he astutely observed, "and that's the hardest part about being one of the few in the public eye. I'm not the guy next door, necessarily."

"In so many cases, I find myself saying, I want to be the really nice down-to-earth guy who happens to be gay in order to set an example that it's not threatening," he explained.

"Then there's another part of me that's like, no I want to be fierce and… Do whatever I want because I'm a rebel. I have that battle inside of me. I know a lot of people do."

Say what you like about Adam Lambert, he's an important and visible role model for teenagers confused about the dilemmas posed by innate fierceness.
