Inspired by the death of Whitney Houston, Alexandra Burke has blogged about her musical influences for The Huffington Post.
"I remember listening to my first record at the age of five," she mused. "It was a song by a group called Five Star and my sister used to make me listen to them."
AMAZING.
Other than Five Star, young Alexandra would listen to acts from "the Motown and Soul era" including Al Green, The Stylistics, and Aretha Franklin.
Alexandra also talked about how her mum, a member of Soul II Soul, "had a strong influence over me and the way I interpreted music", adding: "I can remember watching my mum perform on Top Of The Pops with Soul II Soul back in 1993, and that made me realise this is what I always wanted to do."
