Beyoncé will follow in the footsteps of Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand by playing Vicki Lester in the fourth adaptation of A Star Is Born.
Her casting has been rumoured for some time, but the Obsessed actress has now confirmed her role in the Clint Eastwood-directed remake.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Beyoncé spoke of the significance of the role. "I represent this generation's talent", she said. "For me to be the chosen person, as an African American woman, is incredible."
The film will reportedly star Leonardo DiCaprio as the has-been alcoholic actor she falls in love with, NME reports.
Beyonce's '4' is currently Number One on the album chart, with 'Best Thing I Never Had' Number Three in the singles.
