We need to thank Jay‑Z for convincing Beyoncé to play Glastonbury this year.
According to The Belfast Telegraph, the festival's organiser Michael Eavis credits the popularity of Jay‑Z's (initially controversial) performance at the event three years ago with swaying Beyoncé's decision.
"When he came before it was an absolutely fantastic success and in a way, that's what persuaded Beyonce to come and do it," he said. "She was here before [and] saw the amazing response from the crowd. It made history for us and for him too."
Eavis believes that the couple may even stay on site for the entire festival. "I think they'll stay the weekend," he added. "I think they're quite pally with the other headliners as well."
When asked whether her husband may return to the Pilton stage during her set, Eavis cryptically replied "Wouldn't it be nice?"
Rumours are also circulating about the fate of Beyonce's forthcoming album, '4'. Unnamed sources are claiming that the release date has been pushed back/the tracklisting will change/Beyoncé has been asked by Columbia to record new, replacement tracks after fans' response to the album leak was less than promising/etc.
