Carly Rae Jepsen's ode to business cards 'Call Me Maybe' has become the first song to 'top' the UK's Official Steaming Chart, reports the Official Charts Company.
The chart, which takes data from streaming sites including Spotify, Deezer, We7 and Napster, isn't that dissimilar to the proper chart, although Marina & The Diamonds' 'Primadonna' is 'sitting pretty' at Number 9, so that's good news.
A very excitable Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot had this to say about Carly Rae Jepsen's "piece of history", although he's so far remained silent on news of Marina's first (sort of ) Top Ten single: "Many many congratulations to Carly Rae Jepsen, who has captured a piece of history in claiming the top spot in the very first Official Streaming Chart."
"The launch of this chart is a landmark moment for the UK music industry – and it is appropriate that such a signature Spring smash can claim this historic first."
'Spring smash'.
