Clive Davis has revealed that will.i.am is working on Leona Lewis' much-delayed third album.
The industry executive, who has been involved with all three Leona albums, said of ‘Glassheart’: “What I’m doing right now is approaching the best writers, I’m sitting with will.i.am, with Polow [da Don] and with Ryan Tedder."
He was critical of Leona’s desire to write songs for her previous album, saying: “You don’t become a writer because someone says you’ll get a copyright royalty and you’ll make more money.” He added: “So the second album did not have [the hits] because she co-write eight songs on that album.”
However, this time round, he decided to leave it to the professionals and take what he called “the old fashioned approach” of sourcing songs from proven hitmakers. He added: “We’re about to finish her third album. I think it’s damn good. I think it’s got hits in it.”
‘Glassheart’ will eventually be released on March 26.
