Emeli Sandé didn't get paid that much for her performance at the Olympics

Part-time bore­mon­ger Emeli Sandé has 'revealed' how much she was paid for her per­form­ance at Friday's Olympic Opening Ceremony.

"I got paid £1 for my work," she told the Evening Standard. "It’s there in print and I know because I signed the contract myself. Mind you, I haven’t received anything yet!"

Not that she's even con­tem­plat­ing not getting it.

"When I do [get the money], though, that £1 will be truly special. Part of what made the whole event so special was the volun­teers who were paid nothing and even paid for their own accom­mod­a­tion. It shows how important art is."

To put it another way, Emeli was paid infin­itely more than most of the other per­formers. ONE RULE FOR THEM, ANOTHER FOR THE REST OF US.
