Janelle Monae has started work on her new album.
Speaking to MTV, the singer said that she had begun working on new tracks while touring with Bruno Mars.
Monae stressed that while her new songs will continue to be high-concept, she wanted to stay relatable. "It will still be, I believe, relatable to the people," she said. "We have really big ideas, I must say, and we’re just trying to make sure we execute them properly."
She continued, "I want to create music that will be their choice of drug whenever they feel oppressed or depressed.[I want to] create something that will remain timeless, hopefully, and the next generation can be inspired by it."
