Janelle Monae has gained her first US Number One, as a guest vocalist on the misleadingly-named rock band Fun.'s debut single 'We Are Young'.
The 'rousing midtempo' tune climbed from Number 3 to the top spot this week, ending the non-consecutive three-week run of Kelly Clarkson's '(What Doesn't Kill You) Stronger'.
Cheers!
As reported by Billboard, 'We Are Young' makes Fun. the first 'rock' group to have a Hot 100 Number One since Coldplay's 'Vida La Vida' in 2008, and the first rock band to top the chart with their debut single since Nickelback's 'How You Remind Me' in 2001. A sorry state of affairs, we're sure you'll agree.
There's also an inspirational Glee version of the song, which you can see here.
Confusingly, this cover is currently out in the UK but you'll have have to wait until May 14 to purchase the Fun. original on UK iTunes. Contain yourselves.
