Jessie J has said that she tries to "find the light" in difficult situations while a lot of artists "love to play the victim".
Speaking to Time Out this week, the 'Excuse My Rude' hitmaker explained that being ill when she was young taught her to live positively.
"If I've ever been through a horrific break-up or there's a death close to me, I try to find the light in it," she explains. "I don't like being in a dark place."
"A lot of artists do. Especially females," she goes on. "They love to play the victim."
"No one's ever heard me sing 'He broke my heart' or 'I'm fed up and I'm gonna give up.' I'm not that girl."
Cornish also explained that she's learned how to deal with Twitter's less friendly users. "I tend not to read my social media timeline as much as I used to," she claims. "I try to lead a very positive life and Twitter can be quite dark sometimes."
