Shorn former unitard wearing singer of song Jessie J had the most played pop single of 2012, according to PPL (as quoted here).

'Domino' beat off Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know', while over­looked song­stress Emeli Sandé was at Number 3 with 'Next To Me'.

But what does Jonathan Morrish from PPL think about it all?
