According to early forecasts conjured up by the good people at Billboard, Justin Bieber's currently beating off One Direction in America.
Various industry forecasters have suggested that Bieber's 'Purpose' will sell over 525,000 in equivalent sales, with around 450,000 of those being pure album sales, to 'nab' the top spot on the album charts (as you well know, the American charts also take streaming and individual track downloads into account when tallying up the scores on the doors).
One Direction's 'Made In The AM', meanwhile, is on course to 'shift' 475,000 copies in total, with 400,000 to 425,000 of that sum being actual album sales.
If both albums do sell over 400,000 copies it will be the first time two albums have passed that particular landmark since December 2009.
In the UK, however, One Direction are at Number One in the midweeks so no one panic. It's poor Ben Haenow we should all feel sorry for.
