Madonna has said she will use her 'gig' in St. Petersburg in August to speak out against a new law condemning "homosexual propaganda".
This week, lawmakers in the Russian city passed legislation criminalising "public action aimed at propagandising sodomy, lesbianism, bisexualism, and transgenderism among minors".
However, they hadn't anticipated on "freedom fighter" Madonna wading in. She today declared: "My show. My songs. My work. My art. Is all about freedom of expression, freedom to choose to speak to act always with humanity and compassion."
"I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels oppressed," she promised. "I don't run away from adversity. I will speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity."
Madonna debuted her latest homosexual propaganda in the video for 'Girl Gone Wild' today. Russian politicians look away now.
