Nicki Minaj thinks 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' is more hip-hop than pop and wishes everyone would stop saying otherwise.
Speaking to New York's Power 105.1 (quoted on Rap-Up.com) she said that although she set out to make a rap record, "things just don’t keep my attention long enough to only do one thing".
She continued about the "versatile" album: "I have to say, I feel like people love saying the pop word first. The album is more hip-hop than pop."
Despite this, she conceded that some of the poppier tracks were the most fun to record. "I had a blast recording a lot of my dance songs, 'Pound The Alarm' and 'Starships'," she said. "Those were a lot of fun. I had fun recording 'Come On A Cone'. I was busting out laughing in the booth."
