Nicola Roberts says it was important for her debut solo album to be a departure from the Girls Aloud sound.
She told Stylist that when she was recording the album, "it was important to me to be different. I really wanted to do my own thing".
"It wasn’t just different from what I used to do with the girls, it was different to what anybody else was doing as well," she continued.
She admitted that dealing with 'difficult' topics like bullying and self image was in fact the easy part, adding that "it's as simple as writing a song about a situation you’ve been through. And the things you haven’t experienced? You imagine how it would feel".
