Radio 1 have announced details of a quite big free-ticketed music festival to take place next summer as part of London 2012 Festival.
The festival will take place on Hackney Marshes and will feature six stages and over 100,000 punters. The first two acts to be announced are Leona Lewis and Plan B — both Hackney locals (Lewis performed a short set on Radio 1 today, including a cover of 'Man Down'. Amazing).
Tickets will be allocated in a similar way to Radio 1's One Big Weekend events, with priority given to people from the neighbouring area.
Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt told Music Week it would be "the most ambitious event in the station's 44-year history” and will be "aimed specifically at the thousands of young people who live in the boroughs directly surrounding the Olympic Park".
