Shakira has been nominated for a humanitarian award

Shakira has been nominated for Spain's pres­ti­gi­ous Prince Of Asturias Concord Award.

The 'Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos' hitmaker has been recog­nised for her human­it­arian work, which includes setting up the Barefoot Foundation at the age of 18.

According to the Huffington Post, the award is given to someone "whose work has sig­ni­fic­antly con­trib­uted to fostering peace, the defense of human rights, freedom, solid­ar­ity, the safe­guard­ing of heritage, or, in general, the progress of humanity".

Blimey.

If she wins, Shakira will be the first enter­tainer to win the award.
