You might need to sit down for this: Taylor Swift's '1989' has now 'shifted' 5m copies in America and is the quickest album to reach that 'milestone' in over ten bloody years.
Let's have a look at some facts and indeed figures, shall we? (via Billboard, obviously).
Basically '1989' sold a further 26,000 copies this week which pushes its total to 5.015m, which it achieved in its 36th week of release. This makes it the quickest to cross the 5 million mark since week ending August 1 2004 when Usher's 'Confessions' hit 5m in only its 19th week 'in the shops'.
Mind you, this is Swifto's third album to sell over that amount in the US with 'Fearless' and her self-titled debut selling 6.95m and 5.52m, respectively.
Well done Taylor for helping fill that Adele void.
