The singer from The Script has been labouring under the misapprehension that The Voice is getting twice the number of viewers that it actually is.
In a BBC 'Newsbeat' interview, the paragon of authenticity answered the show's detractors by saying: "We got great big luck in the first few weeks, and then we went down to where we were told we would be.… At the end of the week, 9 million people is a bad result?"
In fact, the semi-final last weekend drew 4.5 million viewers.
"I'd like to see more concentration on the music", added Sir Tom. "And less sort of, TV. Because people that make TV shows, they wanted to look like this and look like that. But this is a music show! Basically, a musical show. You know, it's all about music."
