Reigning Twenty Quid Music Prize winner Will Young has left Sony and signed a new record deal with Island Records, it's been announced.
"After almost 11 happy fulfilling years at Sony records I have decided to move on now to Island records," the 'I Just Want A Lover' hitmaker confirmed to a press release.
"Growing up Island records was known to me as the bastion of real [CLANG], exciting music. Music that was varied but always shared a common theme of soulful honesty whoever the artist was. It is with a huge sense of pride and excitement that I start the next stage of my pop career with Island records under the flag of Universal."
"To go from winning a talent competition to signing with the legendary Island a decade on is truly the stuff that dreams are made of and I thank everyone who has helped me along the way," he continued.
People from Island like Darcus Beese and Will's manager Simon Fuller all had lots of things to say about it all, but we won't bore you with all that as it's all essentially the same.
No details as to when Will's first album under Island will be released, but we imagine it will be at some point next year.
